City gets back its Noise Bylaw for Construction October 7!

In response to COVID-19, the province made regulations under the City of Toronto Act, 2006 and the Municipal Act, 2001 that temporarily limit municipalities from regulating construction noise between 6 am and 10pm from healthcare-sector-related projects, but in Toronto mainly many condo projects. The Toronto Noise Coalition received many complaints from affected residents across the City. City Council’s request to end the override was denied.

These temporary measures will end at 12:01 am on October 7, 2021, which is when Ontario Regulation 131/20 and Ontario Regulation 130/20 will be revoked. The permitted hours will revert to 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 7pm Saturday and will be prohibited on Sundays.

This means that the City will again have the authority to regulate construction noise in their communities at all times of day and night.
